What is domain?
Domain name: The name of a website that you type in an adress bar. The domain name is the name given to the ip address to the hosted server.
Top-level domain (TLD): The extension of the domain like .com, .net, .me, etc.
Registrar: A service authorized to reserve a domain name for you
When people first buy domain names, they usually don’t cost a lot of money. But once someone buys a domain name, they own it and can sell it for higher price later on. That’s why it’s a good idea to reserve a domain name as soon as possible, even if you’re not planning to use it right away.
So let’s register your domain name!
How?
There are vaious accredited registrars where you can register your domain. In this guide, we will use Namecheap because it is a user-friendly and high-quality registrar. However, you can use any registrar of your choice to register your domain. Most registrars offer similar options and settings, but they might be located in different menus.
Basic info about domain names
To keep a domain registered, you usually have to pay a small yearly fee, which is typically around $12 for most generic TLDs like .com and .me. Some speciality TLDs may be more expensive.
Once you own a domain, you can keep it as long as you pay the yearly fee, or sell it to someone else.
Your website data is not stored in you domain name. Instead, you add “DNS settings” that direct people to your website’s IP address. The main purpose of a domain name it to make it easier for people to find your website without having to remember its IP address.

It’s important to note that prices for domain names can vary depending on the TLD. Speciality TLDs like .game
and .io

Additionally, some TLDs may have reduced prices for the first year, such as .xyz
and .org
.
Once you’ve decided on a domain name, you can purchase it through a domain registrar. It’s worth considering that .xyz
